About us

Florida Standards Laboratory was founded in 1960, with the objective of accommodating the need for a modern, independent lab for the repair, calibration and maintenance of test and measuring equipment. We have a staff with years of experience coupled with "state-of-the-art" equipment to meet that objective.

Technical Competence-Senior member of National Conference of Standards Laboratories International (NCSLI) and American Society for Quality (ASQ). FCC licensed technicians averaging over twenty years of test equipment repair and calibration experience.

Meet the Staff

Robert J. Katz
President and General Manager

Bob has more than 40 years of experience with commercial calibration in all fields of the industry including electrical, dimensional, mechanical, thermal and avionics. Bob joined Florida Standards Laboratory in 1972 as a technician, and in 1997 purchased the company becoming its president and general manager.

Prior to joining FSL, Bob was a senior calibration technician at Solitron Devices in Rivera Beach, Florida. In this role, he was responsible for the maintenance of industrial furnaces and production equipment for the manufacturing of semi-conductor materials.

He began his career in the calibration industry while serving in the United States Navy. For eight years, he served as an electronics technician in two U.S. Navy calibration labs supporting various ships and training facilities. As a Senior Petty Officer, he was responsible for 15 technicians and operators on a U.S. Navy warship supporting communications, radar, cryptographic and navigation equipment.

Bob grew up in Ohio, Michigan and Florida, calling it home after an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1972. He has lived in Florida for 40 years with his wife, Esther and has three adult children and six grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his grand kids, fishing, photography and working with organizations who serve individuals with disabilities.

Setting a role model for his children and grandchildren, Bob has always given back to his community through volunteerism and involvement in youth organizations. He coached youth softball and baseball for the town of Lake Park, was involved in Girl Scouts during his daughters’ scouting years, and for more than 35 years has served in many different roles for the Gulfstream Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Bob currently volunteers his photography skills and support to The Arc of Palm Beach County, Inc. and Genesis Assistance Dogs, Inc.

Walter (Rick) Eisele
Vice President and Technical Services Manage

Rick has more than twenty years of experience with commercial calibration in all fields of the industry including calibration and repair of dimensional, force, pressure, thermal, industrial ovens and processes. Rick joined FSL as a technician and became Vice President and Technical Services Manager. Prior to joining FSL, Rick worked at Gage Lab and Ametek, in Pennsylvania, as a calibration technician where his responsibilities included the repair and calibration of pressure instruments.

Rick grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania where he earned an Associate’s Degree from Bucks County Community College. He relocated to Florida where he lives with his wife. They have one daughter. Rick and his family are members of St. John’s United Methodist Church. His hobbies include scuba diving and he is a Certified Commercial Diver by the Divers Academy of the Eastern Seaboard.

Rick’s charitable passion lies in organ donation. There are 93,000 people waiting for organ donations with one more added every month while losing 18 people a day who cannot receive the transplants they need. Glenda Sutterfield
Vice President of Administrative Services

Glenda joined Florida Standards Laboratory in 2012 as the Vice President of Administrative Services. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring we meet all customer requirements. Prior to joining FSL, Glenda spent eight years in the banking industry and was a stay-at-home mom for fourteen years.

Glenda grew up in Florida and has lived here for more than 40 years. She is married to Tom, and the mother of one son and two daughters. Glenda enjoys reading, backpacking, hiking, iTunes U and spending as much time as possible with family and friends.

Tom owns his own business – designs and builds data centers. He is very active in Boy Scouts of America. Her son Alex is in high school and an Eagle Scout. He is working on his Congressional Medal. Her oldest daughter, Emily attends BAK Middle School of the Arts as a dance major. She has recently become interested in photography and broadcasting. Her youngest, Sarah is following her big sister in dance.

Glenda is passionate about giving back to her community and became involved with organizations who support breast cancer prevention after watching a friend's battle with the disease. When she was a teenager, she read an article about a child rescued from an abusive home and since then has been an advocate for the prevention of child abuse, serving as a guardian-ad-litem. She has served for many years as a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America in the Gulf Stream Council working tirelessly with youth by helping to give them the opportunities to become better citizens. "I support Susan G. Komen. I am very patriotic – my dad was a veteran (Marines - Korean War). I also volunteer at Sarah's school and am the vice-president of the PTA."
